Cometland 2025 Legal Services Auction Winner
Terms and Conditions (aka the Friendly Fine Print)
Thank you for supporting Wood Canyon Elementary School by participating in the Cometland 2025 Silent Auction! I’m proud to donate these legal services as both a Wood Canyon parent and an Aliso Viejo-based attorney. Below are the terms and conditions that help keep everything clear, smooth, and compliant with the rules of the State Bar of California (because… I’m a lawyer).
1. Eligibility (Who Can Use This)
· These services are available to individuals or businesses located in California, where I’m licensed to practice law.
· To move forward, we’ll complete a quick conflict-of-interest check and finalize a formal engagement agreement (standard stuff – no surprises).
2. Scope of Services (What’s Included)
The following applies to the specific winning bidders for the respective items, as determined by the auction coordinators:
· $1,500 Credit Toward Estate Planning Services – Applies toward a full estate planning package, which typically includes: a Revocable Living Trust, Pour-Over Will, Trust Transfer Deed for your primary California residence, Nomination of Guardian (if applicable), Power of Attorney for Finances, Advance Health Care Directive, and HIPAA Authorization. Couple plans (for married or registered domestic partners) include two sets of documents as appropriate. Deed recording fees and notarization are included. Typical package cost: $2,500 to $3,500 depending on individual vs. couple and complexity. The $1,500 credit is applied to the total (e.g., if your package costs $3,500, you would pay the remaining $2,000, held in trust until earned).
· Capacity Documents Package – Ideal for a college-bound 18-year-old (or any adult). Includes a Power of Attorney for Finances, Advance Health Care Directive, and HIPAA Authorization (all notarized). This package covers one adult and may be gifted to someone else. Gifting does not establish a legal relationship with either the giver or the recipient until eligibility is confirmed and a formal engagement agreement is signed.
Exclusions:
· Government filing fees, court costs, or third-party expenses (unless otherwise noted)
· Contested or litigated matters – these items are strictly for proactive planning!
3. Redemption (When and How to Use)
· Services must be redeemed between December 12, 2025 and December 11, 2026.
· To schedule your consultation, email me at jared@jaredackleylaw.com, call 949-484-8876, or use the dedicated Calendly link.
4. Transferability
If the winning bidder cannot use the item, it may be transferred to another person, subject to prior approval and a conflict check.
5. No Guarantee of Services
· Redemption does not automatically create an attorney-client relationship.
· If I’m unable to represent you (e.g., due to a conflict of interest or other eligibility issues), the credit may be transferred or forfeited at my discretion.
6. Non-Refundable
· The legal services have no cash value and may not be exchanged or refunded.
