Meet Jared
Jared D. Ackley
Jared D. Ackley is the owner and principal attorney at the Law Office of Jared D. Ackley, focused on providing efficient and affordable legal solutions for individuals and businesses that protect their ideas and secure their legacies. A graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law, Jared took courses in business planning, corporate law, negotiation, contracts, intellectual property, and estate planning. He was a leader of the Business Law Society, editor-in-chief for Motions (law school newspaper), and externed at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee. He honed his skillset on business contract, employer-employee, and estate planning matters at a San Diego firm focused on small businesses. After passing the California Bar Exam, Jared represented national insurance companies. Immediately before starting his own firm, Jared worked for a Newport Beach law firm representing small to mid-size businesses in various industries on a range of transactional and IP matters.
Jared’s practice is grounded in the principles of transactional law, where clear, strategic agreements are fundamental. This approach unifies his core areas of focus: business law, intellectual property, and estate planning. In business law, Jared concentrates on entity selection and formation, government filings and corporate upkeep, contract management, and HR solutions. Jared also assists clients in intellectual property law by helping individuals and businesses in securing and licensing creative and commercial assets including trademarks and copyrights, a natural extension of his personal interests in fiction writing and the saxophone. Estate planning, a field of personal significance due to firsthand experiences with its challenges, involves preparing binding documents reflecting an individual’s wishes for asset management and incapacity planning.
Growing up in Southern California and studying abroad in Utrecht, the Netherlands, Jared’s diverse experiences have enriched his understanding of global and local business dynamics. Initially considering a career in banking, his passion for assisting new ventures led him to law, where he now empowers businesses and individuals to strategically plan their futures, build strong foundations from which to launch, and protect their assets on their own terms.
Jared is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He is also qualified to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. A member of the International Trademark Association and the Orange County Bar Association (including the Business & Corporate Law Section and Intellectual Property & Technology Law Section), Jared’s commitment to transactional law not only protects assets and ideas but also lays the foundation for enduring personal and business legacies.
